When we talk about human rights, Hong Kong people are always into it if they care about their motherland. Being here as a citizen of Hong Kong, it’s also an open window to the world, to speak about freedom that the Chinese people must have. What happened in Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 was a man slaughter. Pictures of that incident speaks all – Man vs. Tanks.
Everyone in Hong Kong remembers the night when the Chinese Army clears out the Tiananmen Square with tanks, men/women were shot. Thousands were killed and injured. The survivors of the political rally back then some had survived, released and migrated to countries outside China. They were the lucky ones. And ones that we respect the most. The fact is I respect the political rally as a whole. The people were so united and wanted a new government. Even it failed back then, doesn’t mean it won’t happen. We all want it happen soon. We all demand the Chinese government to mourn for the dead, apologize, and come up with a better governing system. That speaks for all of us. We wish China will be a better country and looked up by the world.
I participated the Memorial event tonight at the Victoria Park the first time. It’s the 23rd anniversary this year. The chanting and the beautiful sea of candle lights lit up the clear sky tonight. I believe me as the generation that not really witnessing the incident back in 1989 gives an impact to the memorial day. We’re learning about the country, we’re caring our country so much that we want to remember the history from the past. Tonight there’s a record-breaking 180,000 estimate head counts by the organizer. Part of the reason was because of the growing number of mainlanders are attending the event. It’s really moving when we see the mainland Chinese are aware of what happened in June 4th, 1989. I was only 5 when the crackdown happened..
I hope democracy can soon one day be in China. Really wish to see that sooner..
